We caught the start of Game One at the White Horse Tavern on
Hudson Street, and then kept watching at a party in Greenwich
Village. And watching, and watching, and watching, through thirteen
innings over four hours and 51 minutes -- the longest game in
World Series history. Not until Jose Vizcaino drove the winning
run across home plate just after one in the morning
did anyone turn up the volume on the stereo.
