And then, on the Fourth of July itself, we took

the N train out to Coney Island for the annual

hot dog eating contest at Nathan's Famous.

More history! Steve "Ralph" Keiner won back

the coveted Mustard Yellow International Belt

from last year's winner, Hirofumi Nakajima.

"Tears of joy in Coney Island!" screamed contest

organizer George Shae, wrapping Old Glory

around Keiner's considerable girth, Gersh Kunzman

reported in the next day's Post. Keiner downed

20 and 1/4 hot dogs in twelve minutes, declaring

immediately afterwards that they were "simply delicious."
