For the Fourth of July, Libby tracked down a world-beater of an event:

The 81st annual hot-dog eating contest at Nathan's on Coney Island.

The two previous years, a wisp of a lad from Japan named Hirofumi Nakajimi

had managed to down more dogs than any man standing. Former world champion

Ed Krachie ("The Maspeth Monster" ) and a dozen other brawny men

looked to bring the mustard-yellow International Belt back to Yankee soil.
