Reeses and Tootsie Pops dutifully doled out, we headed down

to Greenwich Village for the Halloween Parade, which I knew of mostly

from the Lou Reed song of the same name on his New York album.

Apparently two or three hundred thousand other people bought this album.

The streets were packed with lions, witches and the assorted

contents of all the wardrobes in New York.
