The four teams came from four points in Europe: Aston Villa

from England, Ajax from Holland, A.C. Fiorentina from Italy

and Panathinkaikos F.C. from Greece. The match was played

over two days; on Friday, 23 July, A.C. Fiorentina topped

Panathinkaikos F.C. 3-0, and Aston Villa won a penalty-kick

shootout to break a 2-2 tie with Ajax. Two days later,

on Sunday, the teams met in 93 F heat to play the consolation

and championship matches. The stands were filled

with footy fans in soccer kits.
