We spent a long weekend up in Massachusetts at Blantyre,

an eighty-acre estate in the Berkshires. We didn't just happen

to be passing through, mind you; this was a wedding present,

long delayed (an earlier attempt at a weekend away at Big Sur

was cancelled when the resort washed into the sea during

a lashing storm) from that best of men, John Blair.
